The SAI story began in the boardroom of a major UK grocery retailer. Our founder, Som Sinha, was demonstrating a machine vision system that could quickly and accurately identify products, with the aim of disrupting the traditional customer journey. The retailer's Head of Profit Protection immediately saw another use-case and threw down the challenge of checking transactions at the checkout to root out once and for all the causes of in-store loss.
A team of retail technology experts, hardware engineers and cutting-edge software developers coalesced around the problem of developing a platform that could ensure the integrity of transactions at the checkout and protect against theft in the aisles while addressing concerns around security and privacy for customers and employees.
